Zombies are easy to integrate into almost any kind of scenario, regardless of whether it’s serious or not. Hence, mindless human husks are the perfect plot devices whenever originality is not required, which is why there are literally thousands of video games out there that feature some kind of zombies, including some that never explain why there are zombies there first place.
Solve Solitaire puzzles and kill zombies
Zombie Solitaire 2: Chapter 1 is a fairly weird game that plays very much like a regular puzzle game, but for some reason it also features zombies every now and again that affect the gameplay in a small way. You can have fun with the concept, but then again the zombies could be removed entirely from the equation and no one would notice.
The events take place after some kind of outbreak that causes most of the population to go insane and attack each other, probably yearning for some brains. You try to escape to a remote island in search of safety and solitude, but it turns out that things are not so peaceful here either. Thus, over the course of the game you jump from one place to the other trying to survive the incessant zombie attacks.
Tackle various mini-games throughout the story
Your goal most of the time is to solve Solitaire puzzles by clicking on the appropriate cards in order to stack them on the deck, with the ultimate goal being to clear the whole board this way, especially the golden cards. However, a few other challenges await you as well, including match-three sequences and hidden object scenes that put your spirit of observation to the test.
Lastly, the graphics are nothing too special, but they are good enough to keep you engaged and not be an eyesore either. Most of the backgrounds repeat themselves a couple too many times, but you are usually busy trying to solve the puzzles, so this part may go unnoticed. However, the repetitive soundtrack definitely gets on your nerves after a while.
A decent puzzle game that also features zombies
In the end, Zombie Solitaire 2: Chapter 1 may feature special side-missions that force you to use special cards in order to kill zombies, but this side of the game does not really change anything in the grand scheme of things.
